| Abstract of the course |
The key to endodontic profitability lies in predictability. Consistency improves the quality of the procedures, making endodontics more enjoyable for the practitioner. The key to success lies in completely eliminating toxic debris and microorganisms from the entire root canal system through thorough cleaning and shaping procedures. An analysis of available instrumentation and disinfection strategies will be provided to understand the complexities of cleaning the root canal system.
Critical to success is accurate measurement of working length. Where is the ideal working length in relation to the apical foramen? Is the ideal length slightly beyond the foramen, flush with the foramen, or 0.5 to 1.0 mm short of the foramen? What working length will ensure greater success given the same quality of canal instrumentation and obturation?
Having ensured complete removal of debris, the next step is to achieve the ultimate goal of endodontic obturation: a true hermetic seal. A seal where there is no leakage coronally, apically, or laterally - a real 3-D obturation. This can be achieved very easily using simple and user friendly Down Pack & Backfill techniques. Occasionally there will be a need for surgical intervention and there will be a brief discussion on modern instrumentation strategies for predictable retro surgical therapy.
The objectives of this course are for the participant to thoroughly identify an endodontic preparation that works, with proper case selection, on virtually every tooth.

| Abstract of the course |
Course Description: The field of endodontics is still experiencing a virtual explosion of new techniques, instruments and materials. How many of these will stand the test of time is yet to be determined. Many manufacturers’ claims and existing guidelines for selecting a NiTi file system are:
- Based on contemporary authors and lecturers
- Often unsubstantiated
- Anecdotal based on clinical experience without scientific approach (evidence based)
|
| |
The Limitations Of Existing Guidelines are: |
| |
- Do not take recent research into account
- Do not discuss goals or predictable methods for
obtaining clean canals
- Emphasize importance of instrument sequence to shape root canals radiographically for obturation
- Based on philosophies limited by constraints of previous canal preparation instruments / techniques
|
| Objectives |
After this lecture course, the participants will be able to: |
| |
- Understand the ability of a single file system over
multiple files systems in preparing canals without
procedural errors
- Understand the objectives of canal instrumentation and how to achieve these objectives with one single file NiTi
system based on research
- Know the advantages of one single file NiTi system
over other ones
- Understand that science needs to direct education if endodontics is to be taken seriously
|
| |

| Abstract of the course |
In this era of increased demands for esthetics and conservation by patients, direct composite resin restorations are increasingly being used by practicing clinicians. Considerable progress in adhesive technology and composite resin materials allows for the creation of esthetic restorations that not only preserves, but also reinforces tooth structure. But they pose many unique challenges which include the technique sensitivity, the difficulty in establishing good proximal contacts and marginal seal. To achieve the optimal esthetic and functional result, the clinician must have a comprehensive knowledge of adhesive dentistry, properties of composite resins, tooth substrate and proper preparation techniques, the optical properties of the natural tooth and the resin material. Besides ever-evolving breakthroughs in composite resin formulations like nanofilled resins has offered the clinician to attain more predictable esthetic results.
This presentation provides an insight to the evolution and advances in composite resin and adhesive sciences. It also presents the rationale of using composite resin in everyday practice and step-by-step clinical protocol of placing resins to crate restorations that will mimic nature. Some of the topics include
|
| |
- When to use and when to avoid?
- Different generations of adhesive and rational of their use
- Tooth preparation designs
- Colour and shade matching
- Simple to multilayer placement techniques
- Curing and managing shrinkage problems
- Simple to complex case management with composite resins
- Finishing and polishing protocols
- Maintenance phase and repairs
|
| |
Anterior and posterior tooth reconstructions with composite resins will be demonstrated and participants will be encouraged to do hands-on procedures to develop adequate skill and proficiency to ensure success and longevity of their esthetic restorations. |
