Abstract of the course

Digital photography has today, quite sure, penetrated into all segments of life including dentistry. The aim of this lecture and workshop is based on the observations from literature and clinical experience, and to inform and assist the clinician-practitioner in having insight into the overall importance from the domain of digital dental photography and make in this way the everyday practice easier, more comprehensive and of better quality. Numerous statements in technical literature and reports in everyday practice point to its great significance in contemporary dentistry, both from the aspect of its role in documenting dental treatment, communication in the relation dentist-patient-dental technician, self-checking (control) of one’s own results, illustration of lectures and publications, and the aspect of conceptualizing efficient marketing and accomplishing electronic tele dental system of connections. Digital photography has multilevel significance and represents the synonym of contemporary dentistry. It’s application in dental practice is simple, fast and utterly useful in documenting procedures of work, effectuating the education of patients and pursuing clinical investigations, thus securing many benefits to dentists and patients.

Abstract of the course	The key to endodontic profitability lies in predictability. Consistency improves the quality of the procedures, making endodontics more enjoyable for the practitioner. The key to success lies in completely eliminating toxic debris and microorganisms from the entire root canal system through thorough cleaning and shaping procedures. An analysis of available instrumentation and disinfection strategies will be provided to understand the complexities of cleaning the root canal system. Critical to success is accurate measurement of working length. Where is the ideal working length in relation to the apical foramen? Is the ideal length slightly beyond the foramen, flush with the foramen, or 0.5 to 1.0 mm short of the foramen? What working length will ensure greater success given the same quality of canal instrumentation and obturation? Having ensured complete removal of debris,the next step is to achieve the ultimate goal of endodontic obturation: a true hermetic seal. A seal where there is no leakage coronally, apically, or laterally - a real 3-D obturation. This can be achieved very easily using simple and user friendly Down Pack & Backfill techniques. Occasionally there will be a need for surgical intervention and there will be a brief discussion on modern instrumentation strategies for predictable retro surgical therapy. The objectives of this course are for the participant to thoroughly identify an endodontic preparation that works, with proper case selection, on virtually every tooth.

Course Description	Unfortunately non-surgical retreatment cases are been easily treatment plan with an extraction and an “implant” placement, based on misleading sound scientific research data. The misconception that restoring endodontic treated teeth is more difficult that restoring an implant, seeds the belief that placing and implant is “by far a better treatment” for the patient.

	Participants are required to get following:

	Participants are asked to get at least one access cavity prepared and working length estimated maxillary first molar(preferred tooth but can get any other if not available). We will help you in searching 4th canal(MB2). Pl. remember, we don’t have facility of compressor and airrotor hp. at the venue. The teeth must be freshly extracted, soaked in water and without mounting. Please get your own contra angle handpiece with burs for micro-motor, mirror, tweezers, and probe. Everything else like K-files, rotary REVO-S files, apex locator, micro-motor, endo-handpiece, EDTA, etc. will be provided by us. It is advised to get 3 IOPAs of each tooth from buccal, mesial and distal side for better understanding.

Introduction	Do you do a lot of root canal treatments? Are you seeing a lot of failing root canal treatments? Did you know that properly done endodontic retreatment has a high success rate? Do you have the knowledge, skills, confidence and technology to take up these challenging cases? Do you want to increase the potential for the cases that you treat? The course is designed for the practitioner who wishes to extend the type of endodontic treatments provided and move their endodontic skills to the next level. This hands on course begins with a seminar on the etiology of endodontic failure, assessment and failure of failed root canal treatment, treatment planning and planning for the re treatment. There will be a seminar on How to remove GP using Rotary and Ultrasonic files How to remove thermafil and other carrier based obturation materials The use of ultrasonics in endodontic retreatment Benefits of magnification This will be followed by a hands on course in removing GP using ultrasonic and rotary files, access to ultrasonic files for use in endodontic retreatment and operating microscope to locate missed canals. Magnification is critical in endodontic retreatment cases. It aids in visualizing the canals. Delegates will have access to an operating microscope for use during the hands on session. Ultrasonic instruments have been developed specifically for endodontics and their use will be described and be available for use by the delegates Delegates are required to bring at least 2 upper first molars one fully prepared and obturated and the other with just the access cavity preparation. You are encouraged to break a file in one of the canals.
AIM	A microscope based hands on course, which will cover endodontic retreatment using a rotary technique and an ultrasonic technique. This course will help improve confidence in removing gutta percha, fractured posts and separated instruments in the root canal system.

Abstract of the course	In this era of increased demands for esthetics and conservation by patients, direct composite resin restorations are increasingly being used by practicing clinicians. Considerable progress in adhesive technology and composite resin materials allows for the creation of esthetic restorations that not only preserves, but also reinforces tooth structure. But they pose many unique challenges which include the technique sensitivity, the difficulty in establishing good proximal contacts and marginal seal. Dr. Arvind Shenoy	Dr. Arvind Shenoy is a graduate of GDC&H Mumbai 1988. He completed his Masters in Cons Dent and Endodontics in1991 from GDC & H Mumbai . He has held faculty positions in CODS Mangalore ,KIDS Belgaum and Bapuji Dental College Davangere, as Professor Dept of Cons Dent and Endodontics. Dr Shenoy is an undergraduate and postgraduate teacher and has been an examiner in various universities. His practice is restricted to Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He has numerous publications to his credit and has authored chapters for two textbooks. Dr. Shenoy has conducted more than 100 lectures and courses on Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. The focus of the presentation will be on clinical implications of contemporary endodontics.

Prof. Sergio Kuttler	Dr. Sergio Kuttler received his Dental Degree in 1978, from the Universidad Tecnologica De Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico. He was in practice of General and Pediatric Dentistry for a number of years; in 1984 Dr. Kuttler received his Endodontic Certificate from the University of Southern California. He has been involved in academics since his graduation from USC, and practicing exclusively Endodontics. His major areas of scientific research interest include the performance of nickel-titanium endodontic rotary instruments, 3 dimensional obturation of the root canal space; root canal irrigation and restoring endodontically treated teeth.
